PSYCHIC BOX is a live audiovisual performance built around a dark, closed box that functions as a hidden micro-universe.
The audience cannot see what happens inside. The interior remains completely concealed. A miniature camera and contact microphones become the only means of accessing the action, transmitting its images and sounds in real time and projecting them at large scale.
Inside the box, organic matter is physically transformed through cutting, heat, friction, movement and decomposition. The camera observes the process from within, while the microphones capture its vibrations, textures and sounds.
The action remains hidden. The audience only sees its consequences.
As the camera moves closer, scale disappears. A surface can become a landscape, a fragment can resemble tissue, and an organic texture can become an unknown environment. The real physical process gradually turns into an ambiguous visual micro-universe.
Sound is generated directly from the action. Every movement, friction, impact or transformation becomes part of the audiovisual system, allowing the physical process to affect the image in real time.
Matter → sound → image → perception.
The destruction of matter is not presented as an ending, but as a process of transformation. When one form disappears, another begins to emerge.
The psychic dimension of the work lies in what remains unseen. The audience knows that something is happening inside the box but can never directly verify it. The mind completes what the camera cannot reveal.
PSYCHIC BOX exists between the organic, the analogue, the performative and the audiovisual. A hidden physical action is transformed into a large-scale live image, turning a confined space into an unknown micro-universe.
DR KONTRA and Carolina Fabiani act inside a space that the audience cannot see. The camera is the only witness.
Nothing disappears. It transforms.
