[A szöveg csak angol nyelven érhető el] DECOL Media Arts Studio (Digital Exp. Coll.) is a multidisciplinary new media collective founded in Turkey, bringing together artists, designers, architects and creative technologists working across digital art, audiovisual creation and interactive & immersive experiences, led by artist Ahmet Said Kaplan & producer Nebi Cihan Çankaya.
DECOL emerged from the collaborative culture surrounding live audiovisual practices and new media arts. From its beginnings, the project was conceived as a platform through which artists with different creative and technological backgrounds could work together, while establishing connections with the international media arts community.
An important moment in this early development was VJ Torna Istanbul in 2014, hosted by DECOL as part of an expanding international network dedicated to live visual culture. The experience was subsequently presented at LPM 2014 Eindhoven, marking the beginning of a relationship with the LPM and AVnode communities that connects DECOL's current practice with more than a decade of international exchange and experimentation.
Over the following years, DECOL evolved from this cooperative structure into a multidisciplinary studio developing large-scale digital and immersive projects. Its practice combines concept development, motion graphics, real-time technologies, creative coding, interactive systems, sound and spatial design, allowing artistic research and technological production to develop within the same collaborative process.
Across installations, immersive environments and audiovisual works, DECOL investigates the relationships between digital systems, physical space, nature and human perception. Rather than treating technology simply as a production tool, the collective uses it to construct environments in which image, sound, architecture and computation become interconnected elements of the experience.
The Beautiful Waste continues this trajectory through a collective production that brings together different members of DECOL under the creative direction of Ahmet Said Kaplan, extending the studio's research into the relationship between technological development, natural systems and possible forms of transformation.
