[Text available only in English] Roland Nagy is a sound engineer, former multimedia arts student, and experimental music producer from Pécs, Hungary. In 2016, he launched his artistic and sonic project Fausto Mercier, which quickly gained recognition within the international experimental electronic scene. His releases have appeared on labels such as Unlog, EXILES, Kaer‘Uiks, Pointless Geometry, and Genot Centre.
Nagy’s work is situated within the most radical fringes of contemporary electronic production: fractured rhythms, extreme dynamics, and an aesthetic resonating with hardcore digital culture. At the same time, his music maintains a deep connection with natural soundscapes and their fractal qualities, revealed through micro-variations and intricately layered textures.
The Fausto Mercier project presents a tense and violent sonic world, populated by minute yet powerful sonic shifts woven into dense, seemingly chaotic networks. It is regarded as one of the most compelling contributions in laptop-based experimental music, drawing direct inspiration from the pioneering lineage of modern electroacoustic composition.
